Single Action Army    .44-40
Rare Cased Nickel Black Powder Frame
Year: 1984      Estimated value: $2,250.00
This is a rare Nickel plated version of the Black Powder series 3rd generation single actions, not a 1973 overrun. This one was manufactured about May, 1984, an early gun from this series, and has the “U” rear sight, non-beveled cylinder, a hole in the cylinder pin. It is in unfired condition and shows no turn lines. This one is among the 480 noted in Wilkerson’s The Post-War Colt Single Action Army Revolver 1976-1986 (now out of production) that came with rosewood custom stocks and a walnut stained basswood display case. Wilkerson goes on to state that almost all other of the black powder series guns in this era were shipped with standard stocks in a cardboard box.
